More about Dr. Raffaele Fronza

After graduating with a thesis on transmembrane proteins prediction using neural networks (1999), he worked five years at the Pediatric Oncohematological department of Bologna University. He gained clinical laboratory experience in haematopatology, Pediatric tumours (leukemia and neuroblastoma), cytogenetics, bone marrow transplantation and molecular diagnostic. He then worked for five years as a Bioinformatician while getting a PhD in computational biology. During this training period, he worked on many different topics employing various techniques, frameworks and algorithms. After getting his PhD, he moved to the Manfred Schmidt laboratory in Heidelberg; since then (2010), he focused his attention on gene therapy, developing different approaches to help answer common (and less common) questions rising in the field. Since 2015 he’s been a Senior Scientist at GeneWerk.
He is the co-author of more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and holder of two patents. He won a business plan competition around an electrostimulator controlled by low-frequency audio signals that he designed and realized.
